The Storyline

The Portland Timbers enter their second match of Leagues Cup 2025 following a 4-0 victory over Liga MX’s Atlético de San Luis Wednesday night at Providence Park. Portland saw four different players score in the 4-0 win against San Luis with David Da Costa, Kevin Kelsy, Ariel Lassiter and Felipe Mora getting on the scoresheet while James Pantemis registered five saves in the shutout. Notably, Ariel Lassiter’s 73rd minute strike marked his first for the Green and Gold.

Timbers Academy product and T2 midfielder Daniel Nuñez made his Providence Park debut coming on as a second-half substitute.

Following Saturday’s match versus Querétaro F.C., the Timbers will close out Phase One in Austin, Texas where they will face Liga MX’s Club América at Q2 Stadium on Wednesday, August 6.

Playing in their third Leagues Cup campaign, the Timbers have a 4-3-0 all-time record in the tournament, having scored 14 goals and registering a +7 goal differential across those matches. Previously, the Timbers have exited Leagues Cup in the Round of 32 in consecutive years. Felipe Mora and Zac McGraw lead the club in Leagues Cup goals amongst current players with two a piece.
