T2 secure stoppage-time win to extend unbeaten streak to ninth straight result
PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers2 (14-4-7, 53pts) extended their unbeaten streak to nine straight games in a thrilling 2-1 win against Western Conference leaders Austin FC II (16-3-6, 56pts) on Sunday afternoon. After going down a goal within the first 15 minutes, T2 responded with a Daniel Cervantes penalty and a stoppage-time Alex Bamford volley to grab an important win at home.
Undefeated in Nine Straight
Playing their first of a three-game homestretch, T2 took down the Western Conference leaders Austin FC II to extend their league-leading unbeaten streak to nine in a row (6-0-3). In that time, T2 has outscored opponents 14-5, including five shutout results. The stretch also contains a seven-game unbeaten streak on the road, the longest active streak in MLS NEXT Pro. T2 gave Austin its first lost since July 12, snapping their seven-game unbeaten streak to climb within three points of their first-place position in the table.
