Timbers U-23s conclude four-game road swing with matches at Washington Crossfire, Sounders FC U23

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers U-23s take to the road for the final two matches of a four-game road trip on Thursday with a match against Washington Crossfire at Redmond High School in Redmond, Wash., before concluding the road stretch with a Father’s Day matchup against Seattle Sounders FC U23 on Sunday at Tumwater High School in Tumwater, Wash; kickoff for Thursday’s match is set for 7 p.m. (Pacific), while Sunday is scheduled for 2 p.m. (Pacific).


The Timbers U-23s (1-4-2, 5pts) face Washington (1-2-2, 5pts) for the first time during the regular season on Thursday. Crossfire won the last meeting between the two teams, 3-2, on June 28, 2013, at Doc Harris Stadium in Camas, Wash. Portland is 4-6-1 all-time against Crossfire, dating back to 2009 when the team was called the Seattle Wolves. The Timbers U-23s have only been shut out once by Washington in 11 matches.


The Timbers U-23s are coming off a 3-1 loss to Victoria Highlanders FC on June 7. Highlanders FC scored the first three goals of the match, taking a 3-0 lead before midfielder Omar Holness scored his first goal of the season for Portland from the penalty spot.


Sunday’s match marks the final contest between the Timbers U-23s and Sounders FC U23 (3-2-0, 9pts). Sounders FC U23 earned a 1-0 win in the last meeting on June 1 at Tualatin High School, despite Portland earning a 13-11 advantage in shots.


Following Sunday’s match, the Timbers U-23s return to the Rose City to play host to Victoria Highlanders FC on Saturday, June 21, at Alder Creek Middle School; kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (Pacific).
