Club announces volunteer opportunities to help support local nonprofits

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns FC will team up with local partners for the 12th annual Stand Together Week Sept. 3-9. The comprehensive, week-long community initiative supports dozens of nonprofit projects and provides in-person volunteer opportunities across the city.

Each year, the City of Portland officially proclaim the week as the Portland Timbers & Thorns FC Stand Together Week. Fans are invited to volunteer and team up with mascot Timber Joey, Timbers, Timbers2 and Thorns FC players and club staff on the various projects or volunteer at any local community organization of their choosing.

With the help of partners Coca-Cola, NW Natural, Providence, Safeway, TikTok, Umpqua Bank and Zayo, 22 volunteer projects benefiting organizations focused on youth, the environment, and social equity are offered across the Portland metro area.

Since 2012, Stand Together Week has mobilized 6,875 volunteers to provide the Portland metro area with 23,464 hours of service at more than 300 events benefiting youth and the environment. Nonprofits served include, The Oregon Food Bank, the Children’s Book Bank, Friends of Trees, Habitat for Humanity Portland, Project Lemonade, among many others.

Stand Together, the Timbers and Thorns' community outreach platform, represents the relationship between PTFC, fans, corporate partners, and community members and signifies the strong commitment the club has to supporting and standing by the community both on and off the field. The mission of Stand Together is to harness the power of sport to improve the lives of children and families in the region through purposeful programs, strategic partnerships and philanthropic giving.

The Timbers Soccer Celebration will be at Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square this June.! With supporting partners adidas and McDonald’s, the Soccer Celebration will feature interactive activities, local food carts, merchandise stands, fan giveaways as well as live viewings of select FIFA World Cup 26™ matches, all taking place in “Portland’s living room” from June 12-June 15. The events are free to attend for fans of all ages.
