Timbers prepare for Western Conference showdown with FC Dallas

The Timbers play host to FC Dallas on Sunday at Providence Park. Here are some fast facts to know as Matchday 16 approaches.

Following a draw in Seattle last weekend, the Portland Timbers continue their series of pivotal Western Conference matchups to start the month of June by playing host to FC Dallas on Sunday at Providence Park.

The Timbers (4-7-5, 17pts) are just two points back of the playoff line as the season’s midway point nears. FC Dallas (7-5-5, 26pts) visits Providence Park for the first time this season. Sunday's match is available free on FS1 and MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

Should midfielder Diego Chara start on Sunday, it would mark his 350th start in regular-season play and would also mark his 400th appearance across all competitions for Portland.

It’s a homecoming for FC Dallas defender Marco Farfan, a former Timbers player and native of Gresham, Ore. Farfan joined the Timbers Academy in 2013 and went on to play in 78 total games between Timbers2 and the first team. He was the Timbers’ first Academy product to sign as Homegrown Player and is the youngest player (18 yrs, 120 days) to start an MLS match for the club.
