PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers midfielder Yimmi Chara was named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 2, the league announced today.
This marks Y. Chara’s second consecutive team of the week appearance this year including the opening week of the regular season. On March 6 against LAFC, Y. Chara scored his second goal of the 2022 campaign at Banc of California Stadium. The Colombian international has scored a bicycle kick goal in each of Portland’s two matches this season (New England, LAFC). Y. Chara started in both matches, logging 90-minute performances. In his third season with the Timbers, Y. Chara has scored 12 goals and tallied 16 assists.
The Timbers will host Austin FC on Saturday, March 12 at Providence Park; the match kicks off at 7 p.m. (Pacific) and will feature a local broadcast on FOX12 PLUS with radio broadcasts on 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
