PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers are set to host the 2021 MLS Cup against New York City FC on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 12 p.m. (Pacific). The match will feature a national broadcast on ABC and UniMás.

The Timbers captured the Western Conference Championship and advanced to MLS Cup for the third time in club history with a 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake in front of a sold-out crowd of 25,218 fans at Providence Park on Saturday afternoon. It marks Portland’s first time hosting MLS Cup after playing on the road in 2015 against Columbus Crew SC and Atlanta United FC in 2018. Notably, Portland is the 10th team in league history to reach MLS Cup at least three times.

In the 2021 postseason, the Timbers have outscored their opponents 6-1, including a margin of 5-1 when playing at Providence Park, and have recorded back-to-back shutouts. Portland will face NYCFC for the first time in an Audi MLS Cup Playoff match. The two sides last squared off in the quarterfinal round of the MLS Is Back tournament on Aug. 1, 2020, resulting in a 3-1 win for the Timbers. Portland leads the all-time series against New York with a record of 5-1-0, outscoring them 10-3.

Media interested in covering MLS Cup will need to complete the online application. The deadline to submit applications is Wednesday, December 8 at 2 p.m. (Pacific).

Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 3 p.m. (Pacific). For more information, visit https://www.timbers.com/tickets/.
