PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers announced today that forward Felipe Mora will undergo cartilage restoration surgery on his left knee on Wednesday, August 3. The procedure will be performed by Dr. Bert Mandelbaum in Los Angeles.

Mora will miss the remainder of the season and his timeline for return is approximately nine months.

Mora underwent arthroscopic debridement surgery of his left knee Feb. 18, which was successful in returning him for a portion of the season, but symptoms now require further and more extensive intervention.

He will conduct his rehabilitation with the Timbers sports medicine staff at Providence Park and at the Providence Sports Care Center.

Mora, 28, has appeared in seven games this season, scoring one goal. In three seasons with the Timbers, Mora has played in 55 regular season games (35 starts), tallying 19 goals and seven assists.
