PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers today announced the rosters for the Timbers U-18 and U-16 Academy teams for the upcoming 2013-14 U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) season. The Timbers Academy teams open their second season in the USSDA on Saturday, Sept. 14.
The rosters for both academy teams were finalized following an open tryout in July and a combine for select players held last week. In total, 209 youth from throughout the Timbers development territory participated in the tryout activities. Formal preseason activities for the Timbers Academy teams begin Monday, Aug. 12.
In total, the Timbers Academy rosters feature a combined 29 players from adidas Timbers Alliance clubs – Bend FC Timbers, Eastside Timbers, Rogue Valley Timbers, Washington Timbers and Westside Timbers. Full rosters for both teams are included below.
The Timbers Academy teams open their second season in the USSDA with a two-game road trip Sept. 14-15, in California, as they visit the De Anza Force and Santa Cruz Breakers Academy on back-to-back days. The USSDA features a 25-match schedule from September to June against other MLS academy teams and elite youth clubs from the Northwest and along the West Coast.
