Breaking into the lineup as a college freshman is a tall task, but breaking into the lineup and earning starts for one of the top teams in the nation is even more difficult, but Timbers Academy alum Foster Langsdorf has continued to work hard and recently notched his first two career starts for No. 9 Stanford.
The Cardinal has lost just once in its last 10 games and freshman forward Langsdorf has continued his solid first campaign with Stanford by earning the first two starts of his career on Oct. 9 and 12. Langsdorf, who scored six goals for the Timbers U-18 Academy team during the 2013-14 season, started and attempted three shots in a 2-0 win over San Diego State on Oct. 9 and followed that up with a second start in a 1-1 double-overtime tie against No. 13 UCLA on Oct. 12.
He has made five appearances (2 starts) for Stanford this season, netting one goal.
Several Timbers Academy alumni continue to see playing time as freshman at their respective universities, including defender Ben White with Gonzaga (90 minutes in 1-0 loss against University of Portland on Oct. 12), midfielder Jesse Garcia-Aguilar (two substitute appearances for Akron in a pair of wins on Oct. 11 and Oct. 14) and forward Anthony Macchione (two substitute appearance for Akron).
Additionally, Oregon State forward and Academy alum Spencer Kleweno notched his seventh appearance of the season for the Beavers, playing six minutes as a substitute in a 1-1 draw against No. 2 Washington on Oct. 12.
At the NAIA and junior college level, Concordia University forward Timur Zhividze tallied his fifth and sixth goals of the season to give the Cavaliers a comeback 3-1 win over Oregon Tech on Wednesday. Zhividze also tallied a goal early to start Concordia on the way to their biggest victory of the season, a 7-0 win over Warner Pacific on Oct. 11. Zhividze has now tallied a goal in three of the last four matches.
Timbers Academy alum Octavio Hermosillo tallied a goal and an assist, while Abdiel Morfin scored once for Clark College in a 5-2 win over Pierce on Oct. 8. Mofin also tallied an assist in a 5-0 win over Chemeketa on Oct. 11. Hermosillo had one goal in six starts for the Timbers U-18s last season and has registered four goals and three assists for Clark College.
