Timbers acquire goalkeeper Steve Clark

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers today announced that the club has acquired goalkeeper Steve Clark off waivers from D.C. United. 


Clark, 32, joins Portland after spending the previous two seasons with D.C. United (2017-18), making eight starts and logging two shutouts. Prior to his time with D.C. United, Clark played three seasons for Columbus Crew SC (2014-16), where he made 100 regular-season starts and recorded 22 shutouts. The Mason, Mich., native made seven postseason starts for Crew SC, including starting in goal in a 2-1 loss to the Timbers in MLS Cup 2015 on Dec. 6, 2015. Clark ranked in the top five in saves among MLS goalkeepers from 2014-16. 


Following the conclusion of 2016 MLS campaign, Clark signed with Danish club AC Horsens for the 2016-17 Danish Superliga season, where he made 17 starts across all competitions and posted four shutouts. 


Clark began his professional career with Hønefoss BK in the Danish first division, where he made 97 starts from 2010-13 and posted 28 shutouts.
