Portland, Ore. – Portland Timbers Academy forward Noah Santos has been called up by the U.S. U-16 Men’s Youth National Team for the Football Federations Cup in Albir, Spain, from Nov. 16-28.

It’s the first camp or competition for the U.S. U-16s under new head coach Michael Nsien – a name many longtime Timbers fans from may recall. Nsien – a defender – played one season in Portland during the club’s USL era in 2006 season, appearing 18 games.

The U.S. U-16s face host Spain in their opening game of the competition on Nov. 23, at La Nucía Estadi Olímpic. From there, the U.S. will play in two placement games against the tournament field that also features Belgium, England, Japan, Germany, Mexico and Wales.

Santos gets his second call-up for the U.S. U-16s in the last few months, having last joined the team for a camp in California in August. The Vancouver, Wash., native has had an impressive 2022 that included winning the Generation adidas Cup with the Timbers U-15 Academy in the spring and being named the U-15 Generation adidas Cup MVP.

The tournament matches in Spain will not be live streamed but will be posted on the tournament organizer’s YouTube channel post-game.
