Though they fell to the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 Saturday, the Portland Timbers dominated passing and possession in British Columbia with season highs in numerous categories. Here are three #StatMan takeaways from the match.


5Fanendo Adi has made the most of his matches against Cascadian opposition, scoring five of his 12 MLS goals against Seattle and Vancouver. Adi's 82nd-minute goal gives him three for the season, which ties him for the most goals in the league through Saturday's games with Chris Wondolowski, Clint Dempsey, Blas Perez, and Octavio Rivero.


65.7 Portland was on the ball for the majority of the match, being in possession for 65.7 percent of the time. In fact, Portland had the higher possesion average for every five-minute interval after the 16th minute.


88 Against Vancouver, Portland had its best passing performance of the season, completing 88 percent of their 510 passes. In addition to the high overall passing accuracy, the Timbers completed 132 passes in the final third of the field. Starting forwards Maxi Urruti and Fanendo Adi combined for 36 succesful passes to just seven unsuccesful.
