#StatMan Three | Timbers defense shuts down Sporting in first leg

In the first leg of the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs Western Conference Championship, the Portland Timbers shut out Sporting Kansas City in a 0-0 draw Sunday at Providence Park. Here are three key #StatMan takeaways from #PORvSKC.

2 For the second time as a Timbers player, goalkeeper Jeff Attinella delivered a clean sheet in the MLS Cup Playoffs. Attinella is the second Timbers goalkeeper in all eras of the club to have multiple career shutouts (Josh Wicks).

7Diego Valeri was credited with seven chances created in the match, which is the second-most chances created by a Timbers player in an MLS playoff game. The only match with more chances created by a single player was when Valeri had eight against SKC in 2015.

1 The Timbers held Sporting Kansas City to one shot in the first half of the match. The one shot attempted was the fewest in a first half this season for SKC and just the third time since 2010 that SKC had been held to one shot or fewer in the first 45.
