For the second time this season, the Portland Timbers posted a shutout against a Western Conference foe as they held Sporting Kansas City to a 0-0 draw on Saturday night at Sporting Park. Here are three more #StatMan takeaways 


8 The Timbers had more shots on target (three to two) than SKC though the home side had 16 shots overall. Portland defenders put up a veritable wall in assisting goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey. The Timbers finished the match with eight blocks on Kansas City shots. Six different Timbers had blocks with Liam Ridgewell leading the way with three. 


40Jack Jewsbury, who played eight seasons for Kansas City, finished the match with 40 successful passes out of a total of 45--an 89% completion rate.


46 When Jeanderson was brought onto the match in the 92nd minute, he became the first Brazilian ever to play for the Timbers in the 40-year history of the club. With his appearance, Brazil became the 46th country represented in Timbers green. Brazil joins soccer powerhouses such as Argentina and France and some lesser known soccer nations such as the Solomon Islands and Kyrgyzstan as Timbers players homelands.
