The #StatMan Three | Portland Timbers 0, Vancouver Whitecaps 0 | May 2, 2015

Alvas Powell, Timbers vs. Caps, 5.2.15

Despite out-possessing their opponent by a 65-to-35 percent margin, the Portland Timbers were held by the Vancouver Whitecaps to a 0-0 draw Saturday at Providence Park. Here are three #StatMan takeaways from the match.

9Alvas Powell continued his impressive start to the 2015 season with nine tackles during the match. Powell brings his season total up to 50 tackles, becoming the first MLS player this season to reach the 50-tackle plateau and putting him nine tackles ahead of second place Matias Laba of the Vancouver Whitecaps.

4 With a good showing by the defenders, the Timbers held the Caps to only seven shots on goal with goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey making two saves on the evening, both of which coming in the first seven minutes of the match. Kwarasey picked up his fourth shutout of the season which puts him in a tie for first in MLS. In 2014, the Timbers did not achieve their fourth shutout until August 9.

68 In his 252nd career MLS start, Jack Jewsbury again delivered a solid performance for Portland. The 13-year veteran racked up impressive 68 successful passes with only two unsuccessful, giving the midfielder a 97.1 passing percentage Saturday vs. Vancouver. Jewsbury, who completed every pass he took after the 24th minute, also contributed four interceptions, all in Vancouver's half of the field.
