#StatMan Three | Julio Cascante scored his first goal in a Timbers uniform

The Portland Timbers’ run in the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup came to an end Wednesday night with a 3-2 defeat in the quarterfinals against Los Angeles FC. Here are three key #StatMan takeaways from the match.


10 Defender Julio Cascante scored his first goal as a member of the Portland Timbers when he headed home  a David Guzmán free kick in first-half stoppage time. Cascante is the 10th Timbers player to score for the club this season in a competitive match. 


37 When Vytas scored in the second half, he became the 37th different Timbers player to score in the U.S. Open Cup across all eras of the club. The goal was the second scored in all competitions by the Lithuanian defender since joining Portland in 2016. 


1+1 With his assist on the team's second goal, Dairon Asprilla became the only Portland player this season to have a goal and an assist in U.S. Open Cup play in 2018. Asprilla scored in the club's 2-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes in the fourth round.
