#StatMan Three | Diego Chara plays in historic 215th match for Timbers

The Portland Timbers continued their unbeaten streak to seven games as the team drew 1-1 with the LA Galaxy at Providence Park on Saturday afternoon. Here are three key #StatMan takeaways from #PORvLA. 


10 Portland finished with a season-high 10 shots on target against LA. That is the most by the Timbers in a match this season and ties for the fourth-most shots on goal by the Timbers in MLS play. 


96.67 Starting his second match of the season, defender Julio Cascante completed 29 of his 30 passes for a passing accuracy of 96.67 percent. Cascante is the fourth Timbers central defender to have a passing accuracy that high (minimum 25 passes) in a single MLS match, joining Larrys Mabiala, Nat Borchers, and Futty Danso. 


6 With his penalty kick goal, Diego Valeri now has six goals for 2018, marking the fifth time Valeri has scored at least six goals in a season. Valeri is one of four MLS players with six or more goals in five of the last six seasons along with Bradley Wright-Phillips, Chris Wondolowski and Dom Dwyer.
