PORTLAND, Ore. - Last Friday, the Portland Timbers competed in Camp Fire Columbia’s Celebrity & Youth Talent Show at the Crystal Ballroom. The event featured local elementary and middle school students competing against local celebrities to help support Camp Fire’s youth education programs.
In 2012, Timber Joey, Community Ambassador Scot Thompson and Timbers players David Horst and Jake Gleeson performed a medley on the History of Rap. This year, the same group invited teammate Ryan Kawulok and Community Ambassadors Adin Brown and Lee Morrison for a special encore: the History of Rap – Part II.
"It was great to be a part of the event tonight," said Horst. "I’m proud to come back and be able to support these kids.”
Other performances from the evening featured KGW Reported Drew Carney, Voodoo Doughnuts owner Tres Shannon and Portland city commissioner Amanda Fritz.
Camp Fire Columbia is a community-based nonprofit that serves over 3,000 children, ages 5-18 in eight Oregon and SW Washington counties. It offers programs that teach children life and social skills, encourage academic achievement, career readiness and college preparation.
