The Portland Timbers and Thorns FC AC Portland 50/50 Raffle, supported by Stand Together, finished the year raising over $140,000 for raffle partners, including AC Portland and the Portland Timbers Community Fund.
Run at every Timbers and Thorns home match during the 2014 season, fans purchased raffle tickets throughout the stadium from volunteers in 1 for $2, 3 for $5, 10 for $10, and 40 for $20 increments. The winning raffle ticket then gave half of the total pot to the lucky fan and the other half to AC Portland and PTCF. Over 21,000 individual tickets were sold at Providence Park last year.
The impact was felt strongly across AC Portland’s physical activity programs. Proceeds from the raffle benefitted the following highlights for the program:
- 458 students had the opportunity to participating in Active Soccer Programming for 20 weeks, 4 days a week for 90 minutes a day
- All students received a jersey, soccer ball and a pair of shin guards
- 81% of participants improved or maintained their BMI percentile. In addition, 79% of participants improved or maintained their aerobic capacity in 2014
