Timbers captain Diego Chara played in his 370th league match on Saturday at NYCFC, the second-most games played for a single club in MLS history, and is closing in on a notable milestone.

It’s territory that few players in Major League Soccer have reached; it takes consistency, durability and leadership.

On Saturday against New York City FC at Yankee Stadium, Portland Timbers captain Diego Chara played in his 370th league match, which is the second-most games played for a single club in league history. He is just six matches away from reaching the record of 376 held by longtime San Jose Earthquakes striker Chris Wondolowski.

The top-five players with the most games played for a single club features some notable names across the league’s history: Nick Rimando (369, Real Salt Lake), Graham Zusi (355, Sporting KC) and Kyle Beckerman (350, Real Salt Lake).

Chara, the Timbers all-time leader in games played across all eras, is one of just 19 players in MLS history to have played in 370 or more regular-season games.
