Quick Strikes | Timbers to again face off with league leaders

Celebration, Timbers vs. NYCFC, 04.22.18

The Portland Timbers return to MLS competition on Sunday when they make their first trip as an MLS side to Georgia to face MLS-leading Atlanta United FC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium (1:30pm PT, FOX). Here are five numbers to know for #ATLvPOR in the latest Quick Strikes.

2 Sunday will be the second time this season that Portland has squared off with a team that is alone at the top of the league standings. Earlier this season, the Timbers defeated NYCFC, 3-0, at Providence Park.

10 Portland is unbeaten in 10 consecutive matches in all competitions with a record of 8-0-2. That is tied for the fifth-longest competitive unbeaten streak in the history of the Timbers and the second-longest streak in the team's MLS era.

.57 Goalkeeper Jeff Attinella has allowed just four goals in his seven starts this season for Portland. His goals against average of .57 is the best in MLS this season.

4 Reigning MLS MVP Diego Valeri has scored in four consecutive road matches for the Timbers. Valeri has scored 26 road goals since his MLS debut in 2013, which places him fifth in MLS for away goals in that span.

9 The Timbers will be playing in Georgia for the ninth time in their club's history, having previously played against the Silverbacks (USL era) and the Chiefs (NASL era). The last time the club played in Atlanta was July 18, 2008, with current Timbers player Lawrence Olum scoring in stoppage time for Portland in a 1-1 draw with the Silverbacks.
