Quick Strikes by Simple | Portland Timbers vs. New York City FC - Apr. 19, 2015

Quick Strikes, Timbers @ NYC, 4.19.15

On Sunday, the Portland Timbers take on an Eastern Conference opponent on the road for the first time this season as the club visits MLS expansion side New York City FC (4pm PT, FOX Sports 1). The Timbers will play in the city limits of New York City for the first time since they took on the NASL's New York Cosmos at Downing Stadium on July 16, 1975. Here are five numbers to know for #NYCvPOR in Quick Strikes by Simple

4 Over the last two seasons, the Timbers have an impressive 4-2-4 record when visiting Eastern Conference foes. In those 10 matches, Portland has notched multiple goals in six of those games.

133Midfielder Darlington Nagbe made his 133rd league appearance for the Timbers against Orlando City SC on April 12, which moves him into sole possession of fifth place on the all-time Timbers career games played list. Nagbe, who has played in the most MLS matches in club history, trails Willie Anderson (1975, 77-82: 160), Scot Thompson (2004-10: 156), John Bain (1978-82: 148) and Brian Gant (1977-82: 147) in the record book.

6 Leading the club in scoring this year, Fanendo Adi fired six shots in Portland's last match, which is the most by a Timbers player in a single game this season. It was the third time Adi has taken six or more shots in a match in his Timbers career and brought his season total to a club-leading 16 shots.

8Since the 2013 season, the Timbers have won eight times in games immediately following a loss. While suffering consecutive losses just twice in those two-plus seasons, the club is an impressive 8-2-5 in games coming off a defeat, including a recent 3-1 victory over FC Dallas on April 4.

17,776 The Timbers will look to continue their past success on the road as they will play five of their next six matches away from home, including three matches at Eastern Conference opponents. Starting with Sunday's match, Portland will travel a minimum of 17,776 miles (calculated using direct air distance) in 35 days for MLS matches.
