PTFC: From the Archives #Statman Edition | Wild ending caps D.C. draw

Kenny Cooper, Timbers vs. DC, Oct. 19, 2011

In the penultimate match of Portland's inaugural MLS season in 2011, the club squared off with D.C. United with both teams fighting to stay alive in the playoff race. While the match ended all square with one goal apiece, it featured an epic final 15 minutes with a frenetic pace that saw both clubs almost secure the breakthrough goal.

The match has been selected for this week's PTFC: From the Archives, presented by KeyBank. Tune in to FOX 12 PLUS KPDX or Timbers.com on June 20, 2020 at 1pm PT to see a special rebroadcast of match.

8Club Leader – Kenny Cooper's first-half goal was his eighth of the season, which made him the leading goalscorer for the club in 2011. Cooper's eight goals bested the seven MLS goals scored by Jack Jewsbury that season.

31Shots, Shots, Shots – With both teams clinging to their playoff hopes, the clubs combined for 31 shots in the second half. The output is tied for the second-most combined shots in one half in MLS history and the most in the last 20 seasons of MLS.

20Career Mark – Playing at left back, Rodney Wallace delivered the cross that ended with Cooper's goal. Wallace ended his Timbers career with 20 assists in MLS play (regular season and playoffs).

131Cameo – Ugandan International Brian Umony played just 131 minutes in his MLS career, spanning six games for the Timbers in 2011. The closest Umony ever came to an MLS goal came when he hit the underside of the crossbar late in the second half.

3Streaking – Portland drew each of their last three road matches in 2011. The Timbers three-game road unbeaten streak was the longest of their first MLS season.
