PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers reached a multi-year contract agreement with radio broadcast partner 750/102.9 The Game (KXTG) ahead of the 2016 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, it was announced today.

“With a longstanding collaboration that predates our ascension to MLS, we are proud to continue our partnership with 750/102.9 The Game for the 2016 season and for years to come,” said Mike Golub, president of business operations for the Timbers.

The flagship station for Timbers MLS matches since the inaugural 2011 season, 750/102.9 The Game is part of Alpha Media, a Portland-based radio broadcast company that owns 135 stations in 28 markets across the United States. In addition to broadcasting all Timbers matches over the air, 750/102.9 The Game also streams games online at www.750thgame.com and on its mobile app.

“The Timbers fit hand in glove into our live and local strategy,” said Milt McConnell, Alpha Media SVP market manager. “Few professional teams, in any sport, have captured the hearts and minds of a market like the Timbers have done here in Portland. We are proud to extend our partnership with such a great organization.”

Continuing for another season, the Timbers’ weekly radio talk show, “Talk Timbers,” airs every Wednesday evening beginning at 6 p.m. (Pacific) on 750/102.9 The Game and is archived in podcast form at Timbers.com. “Talk Timbers” provides team and league news as well as interviews with Timbers coaches and players, and also features regular updates on T2 and Portland Thorns FC. The station’s game coverage this season kicks off with the Simple Invitational, the Timbers’ annual preseason tournament that begins on Sunday, Feb. 21.
