PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers today announced partnerships with youth clubs Eugene Metro Fútbol Club and Cascade Futbol Club, which will see both clubs become the newest members of the adidas Timbers Alliance. The adidas Timbers Alliance now consists of seven clubs throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington.
The adidas Timbers Alliance is a network of strategic partnerships between the Timbers and elite youth clubs in the Timbers’ development territory and is designed to build unique working relationships and development opportunities for its member clubs. Through the alliance, the Timbers share coaching resources and curriculum with member clubs to aid in player development.
At the youth level, the adidas Timbers Alliance helps channel top youth players – both boys and girls – towards the club’s development programs and the Timbers Academy. The adidas Timbers Alliance also includes youth clubs Bend FC Timbers, Eastside Timbers, Rogue Valley Timbers, Washington Timbers and Westside Timbers. Additionally, alliance clubs are allowed the unique privilege of incorporating the Timbers brand into their club name. On the field, alliance clubs wear the same color jerseys – red and white or red and black – in recognition of the partnership with the Timbers, featuring a special adidas Timbers Alliance badge on the uniform.
Eugene Metro Fútbol Club will become Eugene FC Timbers. The club was formed in 2006 under the guidance of committed parents and coaches to improve the environment for competitive players in Eugene and Springfield, Ore. Over the past seven years, the club has grown from three teams to one of the most recognized clubs outside of the Portland metro area, with more than 20 teams across all age groups and a growing program for youth ages 6-10. More on Eugene Timbers FC can be found at www.emfc.org.
As a member of the Alliance, Cascade FC will transition to a new name, Capital FC Timbers. Founded in 1993, Cascade FC is an award-winning youth soccer club serving Salem, Ore., and the mid-Willamette Valley and is a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization. Regarded as Salem’s premier youth soccer club, Cascade FC has become known for its player development and is the only youth soccer club in Oregon to own a soccer facility. The club provides playing opportunities for approximately 2,000 youth ages 3-18, and offers an affiliation with Coerver Coaching NW. For more, visit www.cascadefc.com.
