PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers Academy players Marco Farfan and Jacob Montes have been named to the United States U-19 Men’s National Team roster for the team’s training camp from Oct. 3-10 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. The U-19s will face Liga MX side Xolos’ reserve squad on Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. (Pacific), and will play an opponent still to be determined on Oct. 9, at 4 p.m. (Pacific).
Farfan, who received his first U-19 call-up, started in each of his 18 appearances for T2 in 2016. The 17-year-old defender was named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 6 after helping Portland secure a point against Arizona United SC on April 30. Farfan was named No. 7 on the USL 20 Under 20 rankings, becoming the only academy signing to be named on the list. The Portland native joined the Portland Timbers Academy in 2013.
Montes will also be making his first U-19 call-up. The 17-year-old midfielder joined the Portland Timbers Academy in 2016.
