MLS unveils player list for Friday's Re-Entry Draft Stage 2

The wheeling and dealing is over. For now.

MLS released the list of 49 players who are available for selection in Friday's Stage 2 Re-Entry Draft which will be conducted via conference call at 12 pm PT.

The list is pared down slightly from the 52 names that made up Stage 1 of the Re-Entry Draft last Friday, when Maicon Santos was the only pickup by the Chicago Fire.

In addition to the Brazilian forward, Toronto FC players Jeremy Hall and Andrew Wiedeman are also no longer on the list with reports in Toronto suggesting that TFC are in negotiations to bring back both players.

Players are only removed from the list if: 1) they come to terms and sign a new contract with their current club; 2) if their club exercised its option on the player or signed him to a new deal and traded him; or 3) if a player opted out to either continue negotiations or pursue other opportunities.

The order for the Stage 2 Re-Entry Draft will be identical to that used in Stage 1 with Toronto FC holding the first pick (click here to view the selection order).

According to league rules, teams have seven days to make a genuine offer to players selected in Stage 2. In the event that an agreement cannot be reached, the club will hold the right of first refusal for that player in MLS.

Also, clubs may select their own players in the Stage 2 Re-Entry Draft only after all other clubs have declined to select those players.

If a player goes unselected in Stage 2 of the Re-Entry, that player will be available to all teams on a first-come-first-serve basis.
