MATCH RECAP | Real Salt Lake 2, Portland Timbers 1

The Portland Timbers lost 2-1 to Real Salt Lake on Saturday night at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah. Timbers midfielder Diego Valeri scored a goal in his eighth-straight match (and his 18th overall), setting a new MLS record.



The result keeps the Timbers in second place in the Western Conference (44 points, 12-10-8), just one point behind leaders Vancouver Whitecaps FC (45 points, 13-9-6). After their two game road trip, the Timbers will now return to Providence Park where they will play host to Orlando City SC on Sunday, September 23 (5:00pm PT, FS1).
