PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers forward Jonathan Rodríguez has been named to Team of the Matchday for Matchday 14, the league announced today. The Uruguayan striker notched a second-half brace in Portland’s 4-2 victory over San Jose Earthquakes on May 15 at Providence Park. Evander, who was named to the Team of the Matchday bench, recorded Portland’s first goal of the victory in the 74th minute to spark the team’s comeback win.

Rodríguez tallied his third and fourth goals with Portland after joining the club at the beginning of the season. In nine appearances (eight starts), the forward has registered four goals and two assists. Rodríguez’s brace, his first with Portland, came as the 57th in club history.

Evander recorded his fifth goal and fifth assist of the season. It was Evander’s fourth multi-goal contribution performance in the 2024 campaign. The goal ties him for the team lead this season alongside Felipe Mora. Notably, the Brazilian midfielder has registered four goals and four assists in his last six appearances for the Timbers.

The Timbers will close out a three-game stretch in the span of seven days when they face Minnesota United FC on Saturday, May 18 at Allianz Field.
