Participating in the Copa Centramericana in Costa Rica, Timbers midfielder/defender Rodney Wallace came on as a second half sub Friday night for the Ticos in their semi-final battle against El Salvador in the 65nd minute.
Seven minutes later, Wallace scored in front of the home crowd catapulting Costa Rica to a 1-0 victory and into the Cup final next week against regional rival Honduras.
Wallace has been a key man for head coach Jorge Luis Pinto's side throughout the tournament playing each of Costa Rica's group stage matches. Copa Centramericana, now in its twelfth edition, is a cup tournament for Central American teams affiliated with the CONCACAF region. The top five teams from the tournament qualify for this summer's 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament to be held in the U.S.
