Bill Tuiloma, NZ vs. Peru, 11.15.17

After securing a crucial draw against Peru on Friday, Portland Timbers midfielder Bill Tuiloma and New Zealand were held scoreless in a 2-0 loss to Peru during the second leg of a home-and-home FIFA World Cup intercontinental playoff on Wednesday. Tuiloma started for the All Whites, going 45 minutes in the match before coming off at halftime.

With the loss, the Kiwis have been eliminated from FIFA World Cup Qualifying contention, while Peru secures the tournament’s final spot and will appear in Russia next summer.

In other international action this week, Portland’s David Guzmán did not feature in Costa Rica’s international friendly against Hungary on Tuesday. Los Ticos were defeated by their hosts by a final of 1-0 at Groupama Arena in Budapest.
