HIGHLIGHTS: Amber Brooks

Amber Brooks #2

New Thorns midfielder Amber Brooks arrives in Portland after originally being drafted by the team in the 2013 NWSL College Draft out of the University of North Carolina before spending a season abroad with FC Bayern Munich's women's squad. In a total of 22 appearances for the German side, Brooks tallied 10 goals. Brooks is also a rising player on the national team radar and has been a member of the U.S. Women's National Team set-up at the U-17, U-20 and U-23 levels. She received her first senior team cap against Brazil this past November.

A central midfielder who is strong on both sides of the ball, watch her aerial ability in the box on this goal scored for RC Bayern Munich vs. Jena earlier this year. Lingering perfectly at the top of the six, Brooks snaps a fantastic header past the goalkeeper via a cross from the right side.

Against Bayer Leverkusen, Brooks has another excellent header on frame that forces a good save from the opponent goalkeeper. While she doesn't get the goal credit in this one, her positioning leads to the score as her teammate quickly pounces on the rebound to place it in the back of the net.
