After a spirited first half that saw the Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps end 0-0, the home side got to work early in the second.
Darlington Nagbe carried down the middle before playing out wide right to Diego Valeri. Valeri carried towards the 18-yard box before lofting a beautifully placed ball that Ryan Johnson headed into the upper corner for a 1-0 Timbers lead.
But the Whitecaps came back. With Camilo serves in a corner kick near post that finds Jordan Harvey who heads it past a diving Donovan Ricketts.
