Will Johnson, Timbers vs. FCD, 6.11.14

The Portland Timbers hosted FC Dallas Wednesday night for an important Western Conference battle at Providence Park. The first half showed Timbers dominating possession and creating a number of chances but Dallas managed to score two goals on the counter.

In the 27th minute, Dallas midfielder Fabian Castillo sped through to collect a ball over the top. He chested it down and scored for a 1-0 lead.

Then, in the 39th minute, FCD forward Blas Perez received the ball in the box and one-timed a shot for a 2-0 lead.

But the Timbers kept working the ball across the field throughout the second half. In the 77th minute, Fanendo Adi cut inside the 18 before being tripped up by a Dallas defender. Referee Alan Kelly showed no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Will Johnson stepped up and fired it into the lower right corner to cut the lead in half.

In the fourth minute of stoppage time of the second half, with the Timbers continuing to push balls into the box, Pa Modou Kah capitalized on a ball near the top of the six. After Maximiliano Urruti fired a shot that bounced around a number of players, the ball fell to Kah where he knocked it in for a 2-2 draw at the death. It was Kah's first career MLS goal.
