Timbers Academy signing day, 2.6.15

PORTLAND, Ore. – Fourteen Portland Timbers Academy products signed their national letter of intent to attend a total of 10 universities across the country during national signing day on Wednesday. Timbers U-18 players Grant Alcorn, Reid Baez, Nick Ballenger, John Chambers, Davis Chimento, Toby Holstein, Jacob Kempf, Elijah Kilmer, Gen Kimura, Trent Lowe, Tevin Lowe, Edson Martinez, Peter Prescott and Austin Sandel all committed to continue their soccer careers with collegiate programs across the United States.

Six players committed to play for in-state schools, including Division I programs at Oregon State University and the University of Portland as well as NAIA Concordia University in Portland. The West Coast Conference led all Division I conferences with four commitments from Timbers Academy players, while two players are headed to programs in the Pac-12, BIG EAST and the Summit League. The Patriot League received a commitment from one player.

Eleven of the 14 players – all seniors – have committed to Division I programs, which marks the most players the Timbers Academy has had commit to D-I programs in a single year since 2012.
