Felipe Mora, Andy Polo called up for 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers today announced that forward Felipe Mora and midfielder Andy Polo have been called up by their respective countries for 2020 FIFA World Cup qualifying. Mora has been called in by the Chile Men’s National Team for a pair of matches against Peru on Nov. 13 and Venezuela on Nov. 17. Polo has been called in by the Peru Men’s National Team for a pair of matches against Chile on Nov. 13 and Argentina on Nov. 17. 


Polo and Mora will miss the Timbers’ Western Conference Round One match against FC Dallas on Nov. 22. The two players will be available following a required quarantine period. 


Mora, 27, has tallied seven goals and two assists in 23 matches (13 starts) across all competitions for the Timbers in 2020. Mora last appeared for Chile in a 3-2 friendly win over Guinea on Oct. 15, 2019, scoring a goal in the 71st minute of that match. Mora has tallied one goal in five appearances for the Chile Men’s National Team. Mora and Chile will first play host to Peru in Ñuñoa, Chile, on Friday, Nov. 13, beginning at 3 p.m. (Pacific), before traveling to face Venezuela at Estadio Olímpico on Tuesday, Nov. 17 in Caracas, Venezuela, at 1 p.m. (Pacific).


In 20 matches (7 starts) across all competitions for the Timbers in 2020, Polo, 26, has tallied two goals and two assists, including winning the MLS is Back Goal of the Tournament. Polo last appeared for Peru in its 2-2 draw against Paraguay on Oct. 8 and a 4-2 loss to Brazil on Oct. 13. Polo has recorded one goal in 33 games played for Peru since making his senior team debut in March 2016. Polo and Peru will first square off against Chile at Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos in Ñuñoa, Chile, on Friday, Nov. 13, beginning at 3 p.m. (Pacific), before hosting Argentina on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at Estadio Nacional in Lima, Peru, at 4:30 p.m. (Pacific).
