Chara becomes just the 13th player in MLS history with 400 career MLS appearances

PORTLAND, Ore. – On Sunday in the team's match against Vancouver, Portland Timbers midfielder Diego Chara hit another milestone in his long and illustrious career: 400 career MLS appearances.

Starting for the 390th time and wearing the captain's armband, Chara became just the 13th player to reach the milestone in league history. Notably, he is also the first player in MLS history to play 400 matches with one club. The club’s all-time leader in games played also ranks among the top 10 in games started (390) and minutes played (34,727) in MLS history.

Portland’s longest tenured player has tallied 12 goals and 34 assists in his 15 seasons in the Rose City.
