As part of our inaugural group of ticket holders, David and Kelly won the chance to have a VIP experience for the Portland Timbers vs. Vancouver Whitecaps match, including KeyBank Club seats, and a chance to visit with Timber Joey on the field!
We asked David a few questions after the match.
What was your first memory of/first match supporting the Timbers?
We were actually living in San Diego when we first bought season tickets so we had no idea how incredible the atmosphere was in Portland until we attended our first match in 2011 and were surprised at how involved the fans were.
What was your favorite moment of the match tonight?
Our favorite moment had to be the return of Valeri to the field. The ovation he received was deserved as he is quite a fútbol player and his play is needed as a shot in the arm to the Timbers.
Who would you nominate as Player of the Match?
It has to be Diego Chara. He is the glue that makes everything stick for this team. The true unsung hero that doesn’t get enough recognition.
What is your prediction for the next match – Timbers versus Montreal Impact?
The Timbers always seem to do well after a disappointment. And they seem to have become quite the road warriors. So I see them getting a W in Canada this week, especially after Montreal has had to deal with the emotional run to the Champions League final.
What else should we know about your Timbers fandom?
We truly love the Timbers experience and sitting with our fellow fans in 209. Our one takeaway that we appreciate is our Axe photo that we got to do this winter, because we had our infant son with us and we look forward to passing on the Timber traditions to him as he grows up.
