We asked John a few questions after the match.
What was your first memory of/first match supporting the Timbers?
"Being there for the first MLS home match and the win in the rain against the Chicago Fire. The atmosphere and anticipation leading up to the match and the match itself set the stage for the Timbers Army experience."
What was your favorite moment of the match tonight?
"The game-winning goal and the play of Darlington Nagbe getting the ball to David Guzmán for the score."
Who would you nominate as Player of the Match?
"Diego Valeri for his overall performance."
What is your prediction for the next match – Timbers at Columbus Crew?
"It’s hard to believe I was at the Columbus Crew’s first match in 1996. Being from Ohio originally, the Crew was my team."
I see the Timbers getting a road win, 2-1."
What else should we know about your Timbers fandom?
"It’s just great to be part of something that makes Portland such a fantastic place to live."
