As part of our inaugural group of ticket holders, John Walker and his friend Philip won the chance to have a VIP experience for the Portland Timbers vs. Philadelphia Union match, including KeyBank Club seats, and a chance to visit with Timber Joey on the field!
We asked John a few questions after the match.
What was your first memory of/first match supporting the Timbers?
"It was back in the ‘70s, watching Willie Anderson and the boys take on the New York Cosmos."
What was your favorite moment of the match tonight?
"When Diego Valeri let Dairon Asprilla take the penalty kick for goal #2. I would also have to say the exceptional kindness and generosity we were shown by the Timbers staff and organization."
Who would you nominate as Player of the Match?
"Every game he plays: Diego Chara"
What is your prediction for the next MLS match – Timbers vs Vancouver Whitecaps?
"2-0 (Valeri scores and Blanco scores)"
What else should we know about your Timbers fandom?
"To be honest, I’ve been watching the games at home a lot this year, but coming to the game as a VIP made me see the atmosphere and want to get back into coming to experience the live party that is the Timbers Army and the Portland crowd!
[I don’t have] any superstitions, I gave my original Timbers Army scarf to my roommate’s niece, so since they’re winning without me having it, that superstition is gone. But my favorite piece of Timbers memorabilia is a newspaper full page when they took the MLS Cup in 2015!!!"
