As part of our inaugural group of ticket holders, Chris and his friend Jared Hodgson won the chance to have a VIP experience for the Portland Timbers vs. FC Dallas match, including KeyBank Club seats, and a chance to visit with Timber Joey on the field!
We asked Chris a few questions after the match.
What was your first memory of/first match supporting the Timbers?
I remember at a very early age of six or seven... sitting in the old center field bleachers cheering the Timbers with my Dad back in the late 70s.
What was your favorite moment of the match tonight?
The finishing goal by [Diego] Chara! Always love it when the guy gets to score, and even more so since it put the game away. (Click here to vote for your favorite Diego Chara goal!)
Who would you nominate as Player of the Match?
I'm going to say [Adam] Kwarasey for his brilliant save late in the match.
What is your prediction for the next match – Timbers versus Orland City SC?
I think the Timbers get a hard fought win, building on their momentum from this match... 2-0.
What else should we know about your Timbers fandom?
Absolutely loved the Jr. Joeys! So darn cute.
Beyond that, I love the modern experience, but I really cut my teeth as a Timbers fan supporting the USL Timbers. Lots of great memories of the Army, the Widmer Deck, and Thirsty Thursdays. It's a special culture here in Portland, and while the roots were certainly laid in the 70s, the 2000s really set the stage for the modern Timbers era. And I still love Timber Jim too!
