From the comics to the screen: Greg Rucka's "Stumptown" brings Timbers connections to ABC

Cobie Smulders, Stumptown, 9.25.19

Stumptown, the Oni Press graphic novel written by Portland resident and Timbers fan Greg Rucka, is a story about a private investigator, Dex Parios, and her adventures in the Rose City. Inspired by old 80s detective shows like The Rockford Files and Magnum, P.I., Parios works within a fictionalized and grittier version of Portland.

Parios, and her younger brother, Ansel, are also big time Portland Timbers fans.

Now the Stumptown of the comics is becoming the Stumptown of television as it features in one of ABC's new fall shows, starring Cobie Smulders as Parios, and premiering tonight at 10pm PT on KATU. For eagle-eyed Timbers fans, look for Ansel, played by Cole Sibus, to be representing their favorite team in the pilot episode. (You can even see a quick glimpse of Timbers green and gold at the 0:29 mark in the video below).

While the Timbers host the New England Revolution at 7:30pm PT on FOX 12 PLUS (KPDX), if you hurry home following the final whistle, you can check out the Stumptown premiere afterwards.
