The Portland Timbers managed to continue their four-game unbeaten streak last Saturday night with a 1-1 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps. The first Cascadia Cup match for the Timbers in 2012, the game had fervent fans with lightning and thunder to boot.
Timbers head coach John Spencer put forth a new lineup for the night that produced some cunning attacking play. While Steven Smith, Diego Chara, Eric Alexander, and Jack Jewsbury all produced solid games for Portland, it was the Scotsman Kris Boyd who had your eye.
His 67th minute goal put the Timbers temporarily ahead and broke a five game goalless drought of his own. Though Vancouver rallied late to tie it, Boyd received 41% of the vote. He is your CenturyLink Man of the Match.
Kris Boyd - 41%
