Cascadia Cup Standings: Timbers, Sounders even on points though Seattle holds edge on goal differential

Cascadia Cup, Timbers vs. SJ, 10.27.12

This Saturday, the Portland Timbers travel to take on Seattle Sounders FC at Lumen Field (1:30pm PT, FOX) to mark the next chapter in the storied rivalry and continue the 2022 quest for the Cascadia Cup.

The Cascadia Cup was created in 2004 by supporters of all three clubs and awarded to the supporters group of the club with the best record of the three-way, intra-club regular-season play. Portland has won it four times with the most recent coming in 2017. The competition was put on hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Portland and Seattle are currently tied on points (3pts) having both defeated Vancouver earlier this year though the Sounders hold the top spot in the standings due to goal differential. The Timbers won 3-2 on the road in Vancouver on April 9 while the Sounders beat the Whitecaps 4-0 on June 14 at Lumen Field.
