The Portland Timbers U-16 and U-18 Academy sides returned to league play this past weekend, facing Seattle Sounders FC’s Academy teams for the first time this season at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Wash. In their third away match in five games played this season, the U-16s fell 3-2 against Sounders FC, with Bryan Martinez-Serrano and Elijah White each tallying for the Timbers’ U-16s. With the finish, Martinez-Serrano has scored three goals in five games played (4 starts), which ranks as the most on the team, while White scored his first goal of the season.
The Timbers’ U-18s fell to Sounders FC’s U-18s 2-1 at Starfire Sports Complex, ending their three-game unbeaten run in league play (2-0-1). Wilterlynd Inalien scored the lone goal for the U-18s, scoring for the second consecutive game to extend his season tally. With the finish, Inalien has scored four goals in five games played (5 starts), ranking first on the team for goals scored.
Following a bye this weekend, the Timbers’ U-16 and U-18 Academy teams will return to league play with back-to-back home matches, first taking on the San Jose Earthquakes’ Academy teams on Saturday, Oct. 15, before facing Juventus Sport Club on Sunday, Oct. 16.
