After a one-month break from league play, the Timbers U-16 and U-18 Academy sides returned to action this past weekend, facing the Juventus Sport Club and the San Jose Earthquakes Academy sides on the road.
The U-16s opened the weekend’s fixtures with a 1-0 win against San Jose on Saturday. Lawson Sunderland scored the Timbers’ lone goal in the 26th minute, as the U-16s recorded a shutout. On Sunday, the U-16s fell 1-0 to Juventus, with the home side finding the back of the net through a finish from Carlos Armendariz in the 64th minute.
After opening up the weekend with a narrow 2-1 loss against San Jose, the Timbers U-18 side responded with a convincing 6-1 win against Juventus on Sunday, with four different players scoring in the win. Lucas Cini and Jacob Montes each recorded a brace, while Wilterlynd Inalien and Jose Perez each tallied a goal apiece.
