The Portland Timbers U-16 and U-18 teams played host to CrossFire Premier on Saturday, March 11. The Timbers U-16s battled CrossFire’s side to a 0-0 draw at home, with the Timbers recording their second shutout in their last three league matches played. The U-18s scored two first-half goals against CrossFire to move ahead 2-0 heading into halftime. But, three second-half finishes from United in the second half resulted in a 3-2 win for the visitors. Wilterlynd Inalien opened the scoring for Portland in the 16th minute, while Jacob Montes provided the team’s second goal of the game in the 29th minute of play.
The Timbers U-16 and U-18 Academy teams will play two matches each this weekend, with both teams traveling to face Santa Cruz Breakers and De Anza Force. Portland will return home on April 1 for its contest against Cascadia-rival Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
