2017 Cascadia Cup Standings | Timbers seek sole possession of Cascadia top spot Sunday

Cascadia Cup, Timbers vs. SJ, 10.27.12

The Portland Timbers continue their 2017 Cascadia Cup campaign Sunday in Portland as they take on Seattle Sounders FC in a Heineken Rivalry Week battle at Providence Park (7:30pm PT, ESPN2, Special pregame show begins at 7pm PT).

After dropping a 1-0 match at CenturyLink Stadium in late May, the Timbers will seek to reclaim the top spot of the in-season competition standings. Portland, Seattle and Vancouver have each played in two Cascadia matches this season, and after three total games, the standings are locked at three points per team.

Created by the supporters of the Sounders, Whitecaps and Portland Timbers, the Cascadia Cup has been around since 2004. It was contested by all three teams in USL until 2009, when the Sounders made their MLS debut. The Whitecaps and Timbers continued battling for the Cup in the lower divisions until 2011, when both moved up into MLS, allowing the Sounders to get back in on the competition.

The teams will meet a total of nine times this year, with each club playing the others three times during the MLS regular season.
